Georgia Windshield Laws: What You Need To Know
To ensure driver safety and clear road visibility, Georgia law outlines specific requirements regarding windshield condition, cracks, tint, and wiper functionality. Here’s a breakdown of the key regulations:
Windshield Condition: Your windshield must be in good condition and free of any cracks, chips, or damage that obstruct the driver’s view of the road.
- Cracks or Obstructions: Any damage that impairs visibility is considered illegal.
- Starburst or Spider Webbing Cracks: These types of cracks must not exceed 3 inches by 3 inches on the windshield or rear window.
Windshield Tint
- Tinting is allowed on the top six inches of the windshield, but it must be non-reflective.
Wipers and Cleaning Devices
- All vehicles must have windshield wipers in good working condition.
- Vehicles must also be equipped with a system, controllable by the driver, to clean rain, snow, or moisture from the windshield.
